In a dazzling display of carrom skills, Michael High School-Girls from Kurla and Narayan Guru High School of Chembur secured their victories in the preliminary round of the Ambekar Smriti Cup Free Inter School Super League Carrom Tournament’s East Mumbai Division.
In an intense face-off, the Michael High School girls’ team won over Kumud Vidya Mandir with a 2-1 victory. Meanwhile, Narayan Guru High School clinched a 2-1 win against Michael High School boys in this divisional school tournament orchestrated by Ideal Sports Academy and Rashtriya Mill Mazdoor Sangh in Chembur.
The thrilling encounter between Michael High School girls and Kumud Vidya Mandir saw Siddharth Sawant securing the lead for Kumud Vidya Mandir. However, the tide turned as Asmiya Shaikh leveled the score by defeating Prajwal Shivagan. Nausheen Shah sealed the deal with a victory against Mayank Pawar in the deciding singles match, concluding with a 2-1 triumph for the Michael High School-Girls team.
In the second showdown, Narayan Guru High School emerged victorious over Michael High School Boys with a 2-1 score. Umar Pathan dominated Shubham Parmar, Shahid Khan overcame Gandharva Narayankar, while Nikhil Bhosle of Michael School secured a win against Ganpat Parihariya.
The East Mumbai Division Inter School Super League Carrom Tournament witnessed its commencement in the presence of Narayan Guru High School Sports Director Poonam Mujawar, Sports Teacher Avinash Mahadik, Preeti Viaal, and Shiv Chhatrapati Award winner Leeladhar Chavan.
While individual victories are celebrated, critics argue that placing schools in direct competition might overshadow the essence of sportsmanship and collaborative efforts.
