Former India captain and head coach Ravi Shastri has heaped praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal, stating that his batting reminds him of Sachin Tendulkar,
In India’s first innings, Yashasvi failed to play a big innings. But he made up for it by scoring an aggressive double-century in the second innings. And now, Ravi Shastri has claimed that Jaiswal’s innings brought back memories of Sachin Tendulkar.
Yashasvi’s unbeaten 214 and Sarfaraz Khan’s unbeaten 68 saw India declare their second innings at 430 for 4 and set a target of 557 against England. England’s second innings collapsed for just 122 runs.
Appreciating Yashasvi Jaiswal’s aggressive double century, Ravi Shastri said, ‘I am impressed with the way Yashasvi Jaiswal batted. Not only with the bat, but also his performance and demeanour on the field were outstanding. I think he can be one of Rohit’s part-time bowling options going forward. He can also be bowled. Yashasvi reminds me of a young Tendulkar. He is constantly busy on the field. It is one of the most vivid examples of the famous saying ‘If you believe in yourself, there is hope’. ‘Nothing is impossible’ is just a word, but you will keep seeing them engaged, Shastri said.
