UP Warriorz handed Gujarat Giants their third straight loss in the WPL 2024 by defeating them by six wickets at the M. Chinaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Chasing a modest 143 runs for victory, UP Warriorz got the job done in 15.4 overs to record a brilliant victory. Sophie Ecclestone and Grace Harris were the standout performers in the game as UP recorded their second win on the bounce. Harris was adjudged player of the match for her unbeaten 60 off 33 balls, including 9 fours and 2 sixes. Harris formed key partnerships with Chamari Athapaththu and Deepti Sharma during her knock and ensured she carried her bat through the innings to take UP Warriorz home.
Earlier, Sophie Ecclestone took three wickets to restrict the Gujarat Giants to a below-par total. She was ably supported by Rajeshwari Gayakwad who also got success with the ball. It took a late surge from Phoebe Litchfield to ensure that Gujarat Giants gave their bowlers something to defend. However, Alyssa Healy came out all guns blazing at the top of the order and set the tone for a successful chase.
