Royal Challengers Bangalore recorded their second straight win in the Women’s Premier League by defeating Gujarat Giants by 8 wickets.
RCB won the toss and elected to field first and restricted the Giants to a paltry score of 107 runs. The RCB bowling never allowed the Giants’ batting to get going as they took wickets at regular intervals. Sophie Molineux led the charge for RCB with the ball as she took three wickets.
Chasing 108 for victory, RCB adopted an aggressive approach from the start as they hit a boundary in each of the first five overs. Smriti Madhana led from the front as she smashed 43 runs. In the end, S Meghna and Alyssa Perry put on an unbeaten 38-run partnership and both finished the game aggressively. Meghna remained unbeaten on 36 off 28 balls and Perry remained unbeaten on 23 off 14 balls.
The win takes RCB to the top of the points table on net run rate followed by the Mumbai Indians.
