Defending champions Mumbai Indians registered their third win by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets in their fourth match of the Women’s Premier League.
Mumbai Indians won the toss and asked RCB to bat first. They restricted the home side to a paltry score of 131 for six in their 20 overs. Though Mumbai Indians took to the field without Harmanpreet Kaur and Shabnim Ismail, the RCB could not make the most of their absence. Their innings struggled to get going as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Later, Ellyse Perry and Georgia Wareham came together to take RCB to their total of 131.
Chasing 132 to win, the Mumbai Indians took the attack to the opposition through Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews. Yastika got the team off to a flying start with 31 runs off 16 balls with four fours and two sixes. Later, Mathews and Nat Sciver Brunt made valuable contributions before Amelia Kerr’s knock of 40 runs from 24 balls took the Mumbai Indians home.
This win took the Mumbai Indians to the top of the points table while RCB slipped to the fourth position based on their net run rate.
