Gujarat Giants have been dealt a huge blow ahead of the second season of the WPL as Kashvi Gutum has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
Gautum was the most expensive uncapped player in the league having been bought for a price of Rs 2 crore. The second season of the Women’s Premier League will begin on February 23. The tournament will begin with a clash between defending champions Mumbai Indians and runners-up Delhi Capitals. The most expensive player of Gujarat Giants got injured before the start of this league. Kashvi Gautam will no longer be a part of this league. In her place, the franchise has included Mumbai’s Saili Sathagare in the team at Rs 10 lakh.
Similarly, Smriti Mandhana-led team Royal Challengers Bangalore has received a big shock in the form of Kanika Ahuja. The star all-rounder will also miss out on the second edition of the Women’s Premier League due to injury. In her place, the franchise has included Maharashtra’s left-arm fast bowler Shraddha Pokharkar in the squad. The franchise made her a part of the team by paying Rs 10 lakh.
