When Will Karan Johar Stop Being The Face Of Bollywood Nepotism?

Karan Johar never fails at promoting nepotism to all ends. Every chance he gets to perpetuate nepotism in the Indian film industry, he takes it. Karan Johar is a prominent filmmaker and producer who has introduced a number of talented actors in Bollywood highly coming from a family with a Bollywood background.

This time he has taken his chance at producing a show that doesn’t feature any established actor or an outsider. The show revolves around the life of an influencer Alanna Pandey, who’s a cousin of Ananya Pandey and obviously, you see the Bollywood connection in this too. She might be a big influencer but is she big enough to have her show which is as glamorous as this produced by Karan Johar? It raises a lot of questions about Karan Johar and his constant need to give back support to every nepo kid. Alanna Panday falls under the same category of star kids with her family ties and Bollywood connections. Alanna Panday, being connected with the Panday family made her way to Bollywood more easy compared to someone who’s an outsider and has no connections in the industry. It’s really hypocritical of Karan to claim himself of supporting talent over nepotism when it’s not the case. He has faced backlash from the audience for a long time for ignoring fresh talents and focusing on star kids who take away their opportunities. It is another show of Karan Johar where deserving talents are overlooked to favor someone with family ties in Bollywood. Acts as what hinders talent and discourages actors, directors, or writers who have impressive talent but feel like doesn’t belong to the industry. It limits the industry’s diversity and concentrates the opportunities within a privileged group.

It is high time that directors like Karan Johar stop favoring the insiders club of Bollywood by being so exclusive and provide opportunities to someone who actually deserves it.
