We lost the match due to poor fielding: Shubman Gill

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill is very upset after the last-over defeat by the Punjab Kings team. Our position was good till 15 overs. But then the match slipped out of our hands. Shubman Gill said that we were hit by poor fielding.

In this match, Shubman Gill scored a brilliant unbeaten 89 runs and helped the Gujarat Titans team to a challenging score of 199. However, Gujarat could not protect this score. The Punjab Kings had a bad start. The leading batsmen were dismissed cheaply. But, after that, uncapped players Shashank Singh and Ashutosh turned the match around by playing aggressive shots. The Gujarat team, which was on its way to victory, lost. Shashank Singh’s unbeaten knock of 61 runs was decisive.

We were in a good position after scoring 199 runs in this match. The bowlers also batted brilliantly early on. Till 15 overs we were in a winning position. But then we lost the match due to arbitrary bowling and poor fielding. “We dropped too many easy catches which contributed to the defeat,” Gill said.

“We were unable to regain control of the game by dropping very easy catches. You cannot win on this pitch by dropping catches. We batted well. 200 was a good score. Our position was good till 15 overs. But the beauty of the IPL is that many unknown names come forward and win you matches, said Gill.

The match between the Gujarat Titans and the Punjab Kings was very tight. The match turned around in the last four to five overs. Shashank Singh batted admirably and Ashutosh also gave him excellent support. The pair of Shashank and Ashutosh changed the outcome of the match with a strike rate of 200. They wrestled the winning match away from Gujarat. Punjab Kings got two new heroes in this match. There was a time when the Punjab team depended on the performance of Shikhar Dhawan. The duo of Shashank and Ashutosh has shown a new way for the team.
