Virat Kohli not leading by example as cricketer attacks Shubman Gill

Virat Kohli is the greatest batter of this generation. The former India captain is known for his aggressive approach in the cricketing field. However, he has been much calmer and more composed recently. The veteran batter is away from cricket currently and will be back for the Bangladesh series next month. Amidst these, he has been caught with some controversy.

There is a viral video of the 35-year-old batter where he is criticising his Indian teammate Shubman Gill. It has sparked discussions on the implications of artificial intelligence (AI) in content creation. The batter is the newest addition to fall into the trap of the deepfake video. This incident not only highlights AI’s proficiency in mimicking human behaviour. But also underlines the possible risks to public perception and personal reputation.

Many superstars have previously been into the trap of the same. The first was of Bollywood star Rashmika Mandanna. The video creators are still unknown. It has gone viral in which Kohli criticises Gill’s achievements, claiming that it is too soon to judge him to the same level as himself and the great Sachin Tendulkar. This might have been done to create a rift between the two cricketers who are pretty close to each other.

Here’s the video

Virat Kohli’s dark side revealed in media

Is this done because of the closeness of the two cricketers on and off the field? The two of them are often seen bantering inside the field with some mischieves. Especially Kohli always takes something out of his trick book to surprise the young opener. Gill is an upcoming star for the Indian team and has proven his every worth. This is not the right time for the comparison with the two great Indian cricketing stalwarts.

The video shows Kohli’s actions and voice demonstrating how advanced deepfake technology has become. This level of realism makes it more difficult for the normal viewer to tell what’s real and what’s not. They would think it to be a real video and would create a wrong impression of the cricketing superstar. Both have not commented on the matter. It will be interesting to see what comments they provide on the video. They will be back in action in the Test series against Bangladesh.
