Virat Kohli Has Ran His Career Into The Ground

Australia Beat India in the 5th and final Test in Sydney to clinch the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1. The last time the Aussies had won the Border Gavaskar trophy was 10 years ago. Coincidentally it was the same series where Virat Kohli debuted as the new captain of the Indian Test Team. It was also that famed series when Virat Kohli made his name as one of the greatest of all time after scoring nonstop throughout the series. 10 years later, the tables have turned.

After Jasprit Bumrah suffered a knock, for most of the last test it was Virat Kohli who played the role of the stand-in captain and led his side. But even his years of experience were unable to wi. India the match and level the series in order to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. And Virat Kohli as always was the centre of attention. During the whole series, Virat Kohli kept on struggling with his batting and recorded only a single century in the whole series.

After scoring that 100 in the 2nd innings in Perth, the fan-proclaimed King of Cricket looked like an injured Tiger not being able to pounce on its prey throughout all the other times he walked out to bat. But it wasn’t the fact that he was unable to contribute with the bat, but the fact that time and again he got out to deliveries he shouldn’t have gotten out to.

Throughout the 10 innings that he batted in during the course of BGT 2024/25, Virat Kohli remained unbeaten just once. And out of the 9 times he was dismissed, 8 times he edged the ball into the keeper’s hands or the slip cordon. All of these 8 dismissals came off deliveries in the 5th/6th stump line outside off stump. A delivery that has historically managed to trouble Virat Kohli throughout his career.

And the fact that Virat Kohli arrogantly has chosen to do nothing about it and not even work on his weaknesses anymore tells us that the end is near. He is running his own career into the ground.
