The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, marking the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to the T20I setup after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.
This development holds significant implications as India gears up for the T20 World Cup in 2024, with Rohit Sharma leading the side.
Jitesh Sharma and Sanju Samson are designated as the two wicket-keepers for the series. The squad boasts versatile all-round options, including Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, and Axar Patel.
Leg-spin duties will be handled by Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav, while the pace department features Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, and Mukesh Kumar.
While the return of Kohli and Rohit adds experience, some argue it might disrupt the balance of the team that performed well recently.
