Vinicius Jr Gets What He Deserves

2 months ago in October, the footballing world was sent into delirium when Manchester City’s Rodri was awarded the Ballon d’Or ahead of Vincius Jr. While both had fantastic seasons the previous year, many felt that the Los Blancos winger deserved the Golden Ball award more than the Spaniard defensive midfielder.

It would be an understatement to say that there was an outpout of opinions on Social Media regarding the highly controversial decision. Infact, there was an uproar. Many former and current players siding with the Brazillian and calling the decision biased. But fast forward two months, and Rodri has not yet returned to the field after suffering an ACL injury earlier this season, meanwhile Vinicius Jr, after challenging himself to do “10x more” if that’s what’s needed, has been killing it on the pitch for Real Madrid.

And now, at the FIFA Best Awards ceremony held in Qatar, Vinicius Jr finally laid his hands on what many believed was what he deserved in the first place. That being the FIFA Best Award in the Men’s category for his brilliant performances in the year 2024.
