UFC’s Ego Won’t Let Jones vs Ngannou Become A Reality

Jon Jones wants to fight for his legacy and legacy alone since he has achieved practically everything else in his MMA career. Francis Ngannou has been tearing up everyone at the PFL since he left UFC and joined the new promotion. Both would love to finally go at each other after MMA fans all over the world have romanticised this matchup for years on end. So who is stopping this fight from happening? Well, that would be UFC.

Francis Ngannou (PFL) Challenges Jon Jones (UFC)

On November 30, 2024, Francis Ngannou took to X and called out the UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones. ‘Bones’ himself had earlier tweeted, “Crazy how being called a ‘duck’ pays better than most of you Internet tough guys will make in a lifetime. Two fights in four years and still one of the biggest names in the sport? That’s not ducking, that’s winning. God’s blessings hit differently, stay mad.”

To which The Predator replied by tweeting, “Blessings make haters uncomfortable, but they can’t change it. There’s only one fight, the right fight that will multiply your blessings. #NgannouVSJones

Before this exchange took place, Ngannou had tweeted out saying, “I see you” when the UFC fighter retained his Heavyweight belt at UFC 309.

PFL Boss Says The Only Thing Stopping Ngannou vs Jones is the UFC

Following the exchange on Social Media, the CEO of PFL, Peter Murray talked about a possible superfight in an interview with Adam Catterall via TalkSport MMA. The PFL Boss stated, “Yeah, I mean, we’re supportive of it. I mean, the fighters want the fight. Jon Jones wants the fight, Francis wants the fight, we want the fight, our partners here in Saudi want the fight. And so, you know, it comes down to, does the UFC want to step up to it or not? Period.”

Well, when all of it is said and done. It surely feels like the only thing coming in between of MMA fans and a future Jon Jons vs Francis Ngannou fans is the massive ego of the UFC. Do you think there is a chance that this fight happens in the future? Let us know your opinion in the comments below.
