England will be facing Spain in the final of the UEFA Euro 2024. Despite struggling throughout the tournament, the Three Lions have managed their way to the final. But they will have a difficult time against Luis de la Fuente’s free-flowing football side on Sunday. The side with a bunch of experience and young guns has performed excellently throughout the tournament.
This is the second final for Gareth Southgate’s side in four years. They were the finalist in the 2020 edition losing to Italy in the final at their home stadium Wembley. England will need to stop the free-flowing football of the joint-most successful side of the tournament to get their hands on the major trophy. This will not be an easy task for the 53-year-old manager. The likes of Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal will be dangerous down the wings.
But Southgate can make a tactical masterstroke in the final. The head coach could bring in one change in the starting lineup. Luke Shaw might get a nod ahead of Kieran Trippier on Sunday. The Newcastle full-back has not been fitted into the left-back position. However, he has been good attacking-wise. The defensive quality has been lacking being not a proper left-back.
Luke Shaw to feature in the final ahead of Trippier
Shaw has come out of an injury and came off from the bench in the last two games for the Lions. The Manchester United full-back delivered well since coming on the pitch. Gareth Southgate might give him a place in the starting 11 to keep pressure on Yamal. The 17-year-old winger has been the best man for La Roja in the tournament so far.
The FC Barcelona winger has provided three assists and scored a goal for the side. But whenever he has got the ball down the lines, the wonder boy has looked threatening. The opponent defenders in a 1v1 situation have failed to take control of him. The 29-year-old full-back has the pace and physical ability to destroy and block the attacks of Spain through the right-hand side. The fans will await for the match-up in Berlin.
