Title-Winning Skipper Rohit Sharma Confirms Retirement

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has announced his retirement from T20Is after leading India to victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados.

In his post-match press conference, Rohit confirmed that the final against South Africa was his last game in the format, echoing Virat Kohli’s earlier announcement of retiring from T20Is. Expressing his joy and gratitude, Rohit stated, “This is what I wanted – I wanted to win the cup,” dedicating the triumph to coach Rahul Dravid for his decades of contribution to Indian cricket. He praised his teammates, especially the retiring Kohli, and bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah, acknowledging their vital roles in the team’s success. Rohit reflected on his career, saying that winning games and trophies for India has always been his primary goal, making this World Cup win one of the greatest moments of his career.
