The Yellow Wall Comes Out On Top Against The Mighty Parisians

Borussia Dortmund stunned the footballing world as they were able to grab a 1-0 win over PSG in the first leg of the UCL Semi-Final. It was Niclas Fullkrug who netted the only goal of the night to give Dortmund the much-needed goal advantage going into the second leg in Paris. The game was evenly poised as both teams had some great chances to score a few goals.

Jadon Sancho was awarded the Man of the Match award for his stellar performance against the Parisians. He was able to complete 11 take-ons during the game, which is the most for any player in the competition since 2008. Sancho made life extremely difficult for Nuno Mendes as he dribbled past the Portuguese with ease and created some big chances for Dortmund. However, the German side were wasteful in front of goal and failed to make the most of the chances created by the English winger.

After the game, Jadon Sancho was given a lot of praise by Theirry Henry. The former Arsenal player stated how important mental health was in a player’s performance and credited Sancho’s brilliant performance to a stable environment in Dortmund. The 24-year-old is a Manchester United player, but was sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund as he was at loggerheads with the Red Devils’ coach Erik Ten Hag.

Borussia Dortmund have to be at their best to secure a win in the second leg

Borussia Dortmund will visit the Parc Des Princes next week for the second leg of the Semi-Final. They have a one-goal advantage, but that can be overturned in a matter of minutes by the Parisians. The Luis Enrique-coached team were two goals down after the first 15 minutes of the second leg in their UCL Quarter-Final fixture against Barcelona. However, they stayed composed and pulled things back together as the game progressed to end up with a 6-4 win on aggregate.

Since playing in the Final at Wembley in 2013, Borussia Dortmund has never made it past the Quarter-Final of the UCL. The German side will be looking to make another trip to the iconic stadium, but they have a major task at hand. Defeating PSG at their home ground is not going to be easy. They have a young side that is capable of turning up in big games.

Kylian Mbappe had an off night at Signal Iduna Park, but the 2018 World Cup winner has proven that he can turn things around quickly. The Parisians now have 6 days to rest before the second leg. They will be hoping to turn the tie around and get one step closer to bringing the prestigious Champions League trophy to France for the first time in their club’s history.
