Hrithik Roshan, one of the prominent actors in Bollywood is finding it hard nowadays to make a comeback with a blockbuster at the movies. It’s been almost five years since his movies worked at the box office. Hrithik Roshan’s last movies which actually did something at the box office were War and Super 30, both released in 2019.
Hrithik Roshan is a superstar, no doubt in that but why is he not as famous as the Khans? He has worked for almost 20 years in Bollywood and yet the visibility of the actor is merely there, mostly through social media and not cinema. Is that why Jr NTR was added to the cast of War 2, to make it a commercial hit? There has been much speculation on why Jr NTR was dragged into the cast of WAR 2 considering it already had actors like Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff.
The addition of star-like Jr NTR is targeted to enhance the Film’s appeal to the audience, especially in the southern industry where he has a massive fan following. Jr NTR might be the perfect addition to the movie as the actor has delivered some great performances in the action genre, one of his biggest action drama films- RRR was a blockbuster at the box office. However, the real question is- what did Hrithik Roshan lack that led to another superstar leading the sequel of the movie?
If we take a look back at Hrithik Roshan’s career his persona in Bollywood has been all about “Hero” of the movie. Hrithik Roshan tends to be repetitive with his character choices, mostly as the action hero or the romantic lead. His physicality and dancing skills might woo the audience sometimes when it comes to acting it can sometimes come off a little melodramatic or lacking in depth of the role. His film’s choices reflect more on commercial viability rather than artistic approach. Critics sometimes argue that he has yet to match the same level of success and consistency as his other contemporary actors like the three Khans.
Comment down if you feel Hrithik Roshan should be more experimental with roles and give the audience a fresh dynamic.
