Meiraba Maisnam has advanced to the men’s singles main draw of the Thailand Open Super 500 Badminton Tournament. He will face fellow Indian HS Prannoy in the main round.
The 21-year-old Mairaba, who hails from Manipur and trains at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy, showcased impressive resilience in the qualifiers. He overcame Shashwat Dalal with a score of 15-21, 21-14, 21-16, and then secured his place in the main draw by defeating Malaysia’s Kok Jing Hank 21-19, 21-9.
Unfortunately, the tournament saw the early exits of several other Indian players. S Shankar Muthusamy, Ayush Shetty, Kartikeya Gulshan Kumar, and Ravi were all eliminated in the qualifying round. In the women’s singles, Nikki Raparia also fell short, along with the men’s doubles pair of Vimalraj Annadurai and Mayuran Kathirvan, who were unable to progress beyond the qualifiers.
