Coco Gauff’s Training Highlights Show Lack Of Professionalism

Coco Gauff won her second WTA 1000 championship at the China Open, rounding out a successful season. The American won her first WTA Finals title in Riyadh, becoming the youngest woman to win the year-end championships since Maria Sharapova and the youngest American since Serena Williams. Recently, she showed her strength by lifting 245 pounds for five reps. Her excellent performance was first hindered by her coach. Jean-Christophe Faurel mistakenly entered the frame.

The World No. 3 quipped that he was attempting to ruin the film with his ‘butt.’ After that, she shared the comical moment with her coach Jean-Christophe Faurel while attempting to document her latest gym session. The American has been hard at work in her pre-season training, gearing up for the looming 2025 season. She has since shifted her focus to her pre-season training kicking things off by donning a metabolic mask on the treadmill.

Coco Gauff changed her coaching staff after losing in the fourth round of the 2024 US Open. She replaced Brad Gilbert with Matt Daly, who now works alongside Jean. During a press conference at the 2024 WTA Finals, the World No. 3 praised Daly and Faurel’s “blended” efforts to help her develop her serve. In recognition of her remarkable success this season, Coco Gauff has received a nomination for the WTA Player of the Year award.

Coco Gauff’s coach faces backlash

Coco Gauff posted on her Instagram story “245 for 5. Lol jc tryna to block the video with his 🍑🤣.” She further said, “Yeah, I think for me, I knew I wanted someone to help me with what I wanted to see progress in, especially on the serve.”

“Adding Matt to the team has been great. JC, I’ve worked with him before. I think he has very good insight, into an all-court game. Yeah, I think the two blend well. For me, at least my things that I was looking for, is someone that was going to help me improve for the long-term and be committed to that.”
