India’s Aruna Tanwar won the gold medal with a historic performance in the ongoing Olympic qualification competition in China. On the back of this performance, he has qualified for the Paris Olympics.
Aruna Tanwar’s historic performance has led to prosperous days for Indian Taekwondo. India Taekwondo president Namdev Shirgaonkar expressed his reaction in the words that the doors of the International Olympics have been opened for Indian taekwondo athletes.
Taekwondo has been played in India for the past 50 years. All Government Court Taekwondo competitions and training classes are conducted. However, Taekwondo was far from the international Olympic competition. But, Haryana’s Taekwondo player Aruna Tanwar has secured a ticket to the Paris Olympics by winning a gold medal in the Olympic Qualifier held in China. Her golden achievement is truly historic for the sport of Indian Taekwondo. So an Indian Taekwondo player will be playing in an Olympic competition for the first time.
Arun Tanwar’s historic performance is being highly appreciated across the country. India Taekwondo President Namdev Shirgaonkar, Indian Team Coach Kirash Behri, TAM President Anil Zodge, General Secretary Sandeep Ombase, Treasurer Dr. Prasad Kulkarni, CEO Gafar Pathan and all the officials of TAM said that this is the happiest moment for Indian Taekwondo. It goes to the hard work of these officials in bringing the sport of Taekwondo to the Olympics.
Speaking about Aruna Tanwar’s historic performance, India Taekwondo President Namdev Shirgaonkar said, ‘Aruna Tanwar’s performance in the Olympic Qualifying Trial in China is a historic performance for the Indian sports sector, for which we had to wait for fifty years. From now on, there will be prosperous days for Taekwondo and we will implement this project ‘Mission Olympics’ in every state under the guidance of foreign and local coaches to train athletes through India Taekwondo in all the next Olympics. Taekwondo players in India have immense quality. Namdev Shirgaonkar said that India Taekwondo is going to do the job of breaking them now.
