Suryakumar Yadav Strikes His Way Into MI History Books With His Ton Against SRH

Suryakumar Yadav put on a vintage T-20 batting masterclass at the Wankhede Stadium as he scored 102 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. His ton came in just 51 balls to help MI chase the 174-run target in just seventeen overs. With his ton against SRH, Suryakumar Yadav became the first batsman to score two centuries for Mumbai Indians. He becomes only the second player since Rohit Sharma to achieve this feat.

His unbeaten century helped him get added to the history books. Surya’s 102 of 51 balls became the 12th century of the IPL season. This already ties the last season’s record, which indicates how explosive the batting has been so far. With 19 games still left, this record could be extended by a few more numbers.

Suryakumar Yadav scored his fourth century in T-20 cricket while batting at number four. Only Glenn Maxwell (5) has scored more centuries than him at this number. South African batsman, David Miller also has four centuries to his name at number four. During the century, Suryakumar Yadav shared an unbeaten partnership of 143 runs with Tilak Verma (37). This is the record for the longest fourth-wicket partnership for Mumbai Indians. Talking about IPL, this is the second-highest partnership for the fourth wicket in IPL history. Surya and Tilak were just one run away from breaking the record. This record of 144 runs partnership is held by Gurkeerat Singh and Shimran Hetmyer.
