Supercopa De Espana Will Decide Who Gets Bragging Rights In Spain

The Spanish Supercup got underway last night as two of the biggest clubs in Spain battled it out. FC Barcelona took on Athletic Club Bilbao in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in the first semi-final of the event. It was promised to be a scintillating affair and it was delivered to the fans in every way possible. At the end of the 90 minutes Los Cules walked away with a 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao but honestly speaking it could have gone anywhere.

In the first half itself, both teams missed multiple chances to score 3-4 on a different night. On a day when the storylines were marred with the incompetence of the Barcelona Board on the matters of registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, the Blaugrana delivered on the night. Meanwhile, there might be positive news coming for FC Barcelona back in Spain as both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor have been given the green light by the Spanish judicial system to play for Barcelona.

Furthermore, by booking the Final spot and starting the year with 2 wins, there seem to be positive signs all around the Barcelona camp. Next will be either RCD Mallorca or Real Madrid in the Final of The Supercopa. The 2nd Semifinal will be held tonight between the two clubs and without a shadow of a doubt, Real Madrid is by far the favourites to book their place against Barcelona in the final of the Supercup. And it will be only fitting for the two biggest rivals in Spain to go head to head against each other in the Final on Sunday.

Supercopa De Espana Will Change The Course Of Football In Spain

2 seasons ago, in Xavi’s first full season as the Barcelona manager, the Catalan Club were behind Real Madrid in the league and also struggling to find the rhythm that they had at the beginning of the season. But they managed to win the Supercup against their biggest rivals in Spain, Real Madrid in a thrilling 3-1 affair.

It was this win that changed the course of their season and they went on to pick up their pace in La Liga and ended up winning the League.

Neither Spanish giants are atop the League Table in Spain at the moment. And both will be hoping that a Supercopa win will be a sign of greater things to come at the end of the season.
