The performance of Sunrisers Hyderabad team was very poor in the last IPL season. The Hyderabad team had lost 10 out of 14 matches. The Hyderabad team was also at the tenth position in the points table. Hyderabad team management has decided to give Pat Cummins the leadership of the team to improve the performance of the team drastically.

Also in 2023, Australia won the ODI World Cup under the leadership of Pat Cummins. Cummins was named the ICC Cricketer of the Year last year. He was also appointed as the captain of the ICC Test team. Under the leadership of Australia’s David Warner, the Hyderabad team won the IPL title in 2016.
