In a significant move to boost sports motivation, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a tenfold increase in awards for athletes during the inauguration of the 67th National School Outdoor Sports Tournament in Ballarpur.
This initiative is part of an 11-point development program unveiled on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, emphasizing substantial support for the sports sector.
The ceremony witnessed Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressing optimism that the national sports competition in Ballarpur would pave the way for future medal-winning athletes.
Minister for Cultural Affairs Sudhir Mungantiwar highlighted the launch of Mission Olympics 2036 from Chandrapur, with a goal to host the Olympic Games in India in that year.
Such financial incentives may not be sufficient to address the deeper issues within India’s sports infrastructure, urging a holistic approach to nurture talent.
