Spain-Germany Set up the Matchup of the Tournament

In a world where everything’s perfect, this rampant Spanish team would be destined to meet this destructive German squad only in the Euros 2024 Final. But alas, the world we live in isn’t perfect. Thanks to the lopsided knockout brackets, Spain will take on the hosts Germany in the Quarterfinals on Friday at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart.

Both these teams are undoubtedly the strongest in the competition, not just in the 2024 edition of the Euros but historically as well. Germany and Spain are tied for the most European Championships won in the history of the competition, with 3 each. On Friday, only of these two teams will continue their campaign in the hopes of winning their fourth.

After topping their Group by winning two out of their 3 games, Die Mannschaft made easy work of their Round of 16 opponents Denmark by beating them 2-0 on the night. Germany so far has only failed to win one of their games, that being their drawn last group stage game against Le Swiss, who are the dark horses in the competition and have recently advanced to the Quarterfinals after beating the defending champions Italy, 2-0 in the round of 16. So far, Germany has been ruthless in front of the goal with the front three of Wirtz, Havertz and Musiala all coming good in this competition. And with the likes of Gundogan, Kroos, Rudiger and Neuer, they have one of the strongest squads in the competition.

On the other hand, Spain has been spotless throughout the Euros so far. They remain the only team to have won all of their games in this edition. Moreover, they have scored 9 goals(most) in the tournament in their 4 matches. They have not been scored against in the tournament till now, with only conceding an own goal till now. All through the Euros, Spain has played an exciting brand of football impressing everyone that watches them. With their two wingers, Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams being the main point of attraction.

Up against Germany, will Spain be able to one-up their rivals? Or will Germany put an end to Spain’s dominant run?
