Sindhu’s challenge ends in Asia Badminton Championship

India’s star badminton player PV Sindhu suffered a shock defeat in the semifinal match of the Asia Badminton Championship. China’s sixth seed Han Yu defeated Sindhu 21-18, 13-21, 21-17.

Sindhu, who is desperately trying to rediscover her form ahead of the Paris Olympics, fought hard for one hour and nine minutes. Sindhu lost the first game 18-21. After that, Sindhu won the second game 21-13 and brought colour to the match. However, Sindhu lost the third game 17-21. This defeat ended Sindhu’s challenge in the competition.

In the first game, Sindhu made a bright start and took advantage of her experience to take an 8-4 lead. Sindhu then increased this lead to 14-8. Sindhu then made a few mistakes and China’s Han Yu took advantage of it to make a strong comeback to tie the game at 15-15 and then win the first game.

In the second game, Sindhu won the second game 21-13 without giving Han Yu much of a chance to level the match at 1-1. Sindhu started well in the third deciding game. Sindhu had taken the lead 8-4. But, after that, the match slipped out of Sindhu’s hands. China’s Han Yu made Sindhu tired with a long rally. That led to errors from Sindhu and Han Yu took advantage of that to end Sindhu’s challenge by winning the third game 21-17.
