Olympic medalist Indian women’s tennis player PV Sindhu suffered a defeat in the second round of singles at the ongoing All England Championship in Birmingham. World number one ranked women’s badminton player An Se Young ended Sindhu’s journey by defeating her in straight sets in a match that lasted 42 minutes. This is PV Sindhu’s seventh defeat against a Korean player so far. In the first set of this match, Sindhu lost 19-21 and then in the second set 11-21.

Sindhu was making her return to court through this championship after recovering from a knee injury. In the first round of the All-England Championship, Sindhu faced German Yvonne Li, who suddenly withdrew in the middle of the match, after which Sindhu entered the second round. In her match with Young, Sindhu adopted an aggressive strategy. She was leading 4-1 in the first set. However, from here Se Young made a brilliant comeback and took advantage of Sindhu’s mistakes. At one point the score was 19-20. The 22-year-old Korean player then managed to win the first game. In the second game, Se Young gave Sindhu no chance to make a comeback and eliminated her from the second round with an 11-21 victory.

Sindhu has so far managed only one win against current world number one Young in her career. This victory was won by Sindhu in the Dubai Championship last year. In addition, Young has beaten her seven times.
