Former MLA Vinayak Nimhan Smriti District Level Badminton Championship organized jointly by Someshwar Foundation and Krida Jagruti. Shreyas Maslekar bagged the triple crown by winning the title in the under-17, under-19 singles, and 17 doubles categories in the boys category. In the girls’ category, Khyati Katre won the triple crown. They won the titles in the under-13, 15, and 17 age groups.
Shreyas Maslekar, the 2nd seed, defeated Ayush Patil. The score was 16-14, 15-10 in the final of the under-17 boys category in the tournament. It was held at Sunny’s World, Pashan Suss Road, Pune. In the same doubles final, Shreyas Maslekar and Rigved Bhosle won the title by defeating Madhav Kamath and Neil Shoran 16-14, 15-9. Shreyas Maslekar defeated Ishan Mudgal 15-12, 15-10 to win the Under-19 boys’ title.
In the Under-13 boys’ category, top seed Khyati Katre defeated second seed Synthira Dhananjay 15-8, 15-6 to clinch the title. In the under-15 age group, Khyati Katre won the title by defeating Synerga Dhananjaya 15-4, 15-4 in the final round. Khyati Katre defeated Swara More 15-9, 15-6 in the final in the girls’ under-17 category to win the title.
Mir Shahzar Ali clinch title in U-13 category
In the Under-11 boys category, top seed Vedant More defeated second seed Archit Khandeshe in three sets 12-15, 15-13, 15-12 to clinch the title. Ritva Pandey defeated Purva Hande 15-6, 15-9 in the final in the same girls’ group and sealed the title.
In the Under-13 boys category, top seed Mir Shahzar Ali defeated second seed Atiksh Aggarwal 15-13, 15-13 to win the final. In the Under-15 boys category, second seed Dhruv Barve defeated Partha Sahastrabuddhe 15-8, 15-12 to clinch the title.
The winners of the competition were given trophies and certificates. The prize distribution of the competition was done by Mumbai Deputy Director of Sports Navnath Phadtare, Industrialist Sagar Valanj, Sunny Nimhan, Director of Sunny’s World, and Pratap Jadhav, President of Sports Awareness. Abhijit Mohite and referee Anil Bhandari were present on this occasion.
