In a thrilling showdown at the Gopinath Jadhav Stadium, Shivmudra Foundation emerged victorious in the Kumar Group District Level Kabaddi Tournament, leaving an indelible mark on the coveted Satishchandra Phansekar Cup. Vishal Lad, the standout player for Shivamudra, earned the title of the tournament’s best player, receiving a cash prize of 3000 along with a bicycle.
Shivmudra Foundation showcased their dominance in the final match, overpowering Siddhiprabha to secure the Satishchandra Phansekar Cup. Vishal Lad’s stellar performance, complemented by Vivek Chavan’s formidable raids and Ritvik Tambe’s precise catches, propelled Shivmudra to a substantial 16-point lead in the first half. The team maintained their composure in the second half to clinch victory, earning a substantial cash prize of seven thousand.
Siddhiprabha, the runner-up, displayed commendable resilience in the face of Shivmudra’s onslaught. In recognition of their efforts, Siddhiprabha received a cash prize of five thousand and the Vandana Raghunath Naik Cup.
The journey to the final witnessed Shivmudra winning over SSG Foundation, while Siddhiprabha secured their spot by defeating Vijay Club in the semi-final round. Both semi-finalists received recognition with a cash prize of three thousand each and the Kumari Maheshwari Umesh Gawde trophy.
Divesh Gawli from Sri Ram Mandal Trustee earned the title of the tournament’s best climber, while Siddesh Bhosle of Siddhiprabha was acknowledged as the best catcher. Both players were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1,000 along with a mixer.
Ophthalmologist Tatya Rao Lahane, Arjuna Award recipient Maya Meher, Coastal Development’s Rajesh Bagwe, Shiv Chhatrapati Award recipients Tarak Raul and Sitaram Salunke, National Kabaddi players Vinayak Lad and Chandrakant Bharti, along with Team President Ajit Rane and other dignitaries graced the prize distribution ceremony.
While Shivmudra Foundation’s victory is commendable, debates about the tournament’s competitiveness may arise due to unexpected outcomes in the semi-final clashes.
