The three-match Test series between Pakistan and England will begin on October 7. Pakistan captain Shan Masood held a press conference before the start of the Test series and a reporter asked him a question to which he did not have an answer. That caused a big problem for Shan. Times are not going well for Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood.
Under his leadership, the Pakistan team had to face a crushing defeat against Bangladesh at home. Due to this defeat, the fans are heavily criticising him. At the press conference, he had to face questions he was not prepared for. The matter reached such a point that Pakistan Cricket Board media director Sami ul Hasan had to intervene.
A reporter asked Masood a question, in which the Pakistan captain was told, ‘Shan, you said you will stay in this position as long as the PCB gives you a chance. But your conscience doesn’t tell you that you are constantly losing and unable to perform. You should step down as captain.”Masood, visibly annoyed at the question at the press conference, looked at Sami ul Hasan and then at the reporter with a smile on his face. He did not answer this question here.
Will Pakistan get over the Bangladesh shock?
Later Sami Ul Hasan while dealing with the matter said, “I have a humble request to all of you. The captain of Pakistan is sitting in front of you. You can certainly ask questions. But please be respectful. The question you asked the Pakistan captain was not the right way to ask it.”
This was Masood’s first meeting with the media after being appointed Test captain for the first match of the home series against England. The PCB and the selection committee have been criticized for hanging on to underperforming players despite back-to-back defeats and ignoring some of the young talent in domestic cricket. After this Chief Selector Mohammad Yusuf also had to resign from his post.
