Manika Batra‘s exceptional run in the Grand Smash tournament came to an end in the quarter-finals, as Japan’s Hina Hayata defeated her.
The Indian table tennis star’s remarkable journey concluded in the women’s singles quarterfinals, where she suffered a 1-4 defeat against Japan’s Hina Hayata. Despite the loss, Manika Batra made history by becoming the first Indian table tennis player to reach the quarter-finals of an elite WWT tournament.
In the semi-finals, Manika struggled to maintain her momentum, eventually falling to a 1-4 defeat against the fifth-ranked player in the world, Hina Hayata of Japan, with a scoreline of 11-7, 6-11, 4-11, 11-13, 2-11.
Following her performance in the tournament, Manika Batra, currently ranked 39th globally, is set to climb into the top 25 rankings.
