Sant Eknath Vidyalaya’s kabaddi prowess shone brightly as they secured the championship in a district-level inter-school boys’ competition. The tournament, held at Raje Sambhaji Bhosale Sainiki School, witnessed enthusiastic participation from 48 teams across the district.
The final clash was a nail-biter between Sant Eknath Vidyalaya Chitegaon and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Vidyalaya Ranjangaon. The former emerged triumphant, seizing the first prize, while the latter settled for the runner-up position. Zilla Parishad Prashala Parola and Raje Sambhaji Bhosle Military School shared the third spot.
Karthik Kokate from Sant Eknath Vidyalaya received accolades as the best player, joined by Pradeep Yedke of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Vidyalaya and Shiv Prasad Tarfe of Raje Sambhaji Bhosle Sainiki School. Shubham Jadhav from Baliram Patil Secondary School earned a special award.
Cash prizes, along with trophies and certificates, were presented to the winning teams and outstanding players. Central City Chief Balasaheb Thorat, Shiv Sena Rural District Chief Rajendra Rathod, and Architect Kamalkishore Verma graced the occasion.
The event’s success owed much to the dedication of Subhedar Namdev Sawant, Mohan Ahire, Anil Jagtap, and the collaborative efforts of Kabaddi Association members. The tournament, inaugurated by former MLA Kishanchand Tanwani, received support from dignitaries, including Shiv Sena Marathwada Secretary Adv. Ashok Patwardhan.
Some argue that sports competitions should focus more on fostering teamwork than declaring individual ‘best players’.
