Sandeep Warrier replaces Mohammed Shami in the Gujarat Titans squad

The Gujarat Titans team has taken Sandeep Warrier for 50 lakhs to replace Mohammed Shami. Mohammed Shami has undergone surgery on his right heel. Shami is currently undergoing rehabilitation. Shami has been injured since last year’s ODI World Cup. So Shami could not even play in the India-England Test series.

The opening match of the Gujarat Titans team will be played against the Mumbai Indians team on March 24.

According to the IPL Administrative Committee, Gujarat Titans have included Sandeep Warrier in place of Mohammed Shami. India’s veteran fast bowler Shami has recently undergone a successful surgery on his right heel. Sandeep Warrier has an experience of 5 IPL matches. Gujarat Titans have signed him for a base price of Rs 50 lakh. Sandeep Warrier has played 5 IPL matches for Kolkata Knight Riders so far. He was associated with Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023. Earlier, Sandeep was part of the KKR team from 2019 to 2021.

Mohammed Shami underwent surgery on his injury in London. He gave his update on social media. He has recently returned to India. Shami was the highest wicket-taker in the ODI World Cup. He was adjudged the best player of the tournament. Shami is an important member of Gujarat Titans. His omission from the team is a big blow for the franchise. This time the captain of Gujarat Titans is also new. Shubman Gill will lead the Gujarat team.
