In a remarkable display of skill, Samedh Pasbola, a student at Hiranandani School, Powai, clinched victory in the under-11 category at the recent chess competition hosted by Decathlon in Andheri (West). The young prodigy secured triumph in all five of his matches, showcasing two years of dedicated chess training.
The Decathlon competition featured over 200 participants divided into five groups, highlighting the intense competition that Samedh navigated to claim the title. Prasad Ghate, his coach, played a crucial role in honing his strategic prowess.
Samedh’s chess journey extends beyond this recent triumph, as he previously earned a bronze medal in the School Sports Association chess competition. Additionally, he achieved an impressive 10th place in the Under-15 category at the All India 360 tournament.
School principal Kalyani Patnaik expressed her heartfelt congratulations to Samedh for his exceptional success, recognizing the dedication and hard work that contributed to this achievement.
While Samedh’s triumph is commendable, some argue that chess competitions at such a young age might put undue pressure on children, potentially impacting their overall development and well-being.
