India is playing New Zealand in the second test match at Pune. The Kiwis won the first test comfortably by 7 wickets. The Men in Blue bowled out the Black Caps for 259 in the 2nd test. Washington Sundar picked up 7 wickets on his return to the test side. While coming to bat the team India captain Rohit Sharma was yet again dismissed for a duck. Tim Southee picked up the crucial wicket.
The hosts are in real trouble as they are 156/9, with Ravindra Jadeja having just got out and Sundar on the crease. The Kiwi spinners have spun a web against the Indian batters. Virat Kohli was another batter who was dismissed cheaply on 1 run, he completely miscued a full toss from Mitchell Santner playing across the line. The two-star batters of India Rohit and Kohli have not in their best form.
Both batters have just scored one half-century each in the first test match. Otherwise, they have failed to bat under pressure, and especially with the red ball format the two need to work on their patience to play long innings. With India still behind by 103 runs. Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah would like to add on the runs so that India still has the chance to fight.
Rohit and Kohli should play domestic cricket
Is the RO-KO losing their edge in the longest format of the game? RO-KO are the superstars for India with retiring from the T20I format they both need to settle down quickly in the longest format having missed out on playing the domestic format for a long time. This is the reason they are suffering and with the Australia tour in mind, the two quickly need to get back in form.
India should also be looking beyond them in the traditional format of the game. They are well past their prime and need to understand that it is not as easy as white-ball cricket. If India loses the series this will be their first loss since 2012. This will create a lot of stir in the dressing room and among the fans as well.
