Rishabh Pant’s 639-Day Wait Proves He’s Better Than MS Dhoni In Test Cricket

India vs Bangladesh 1st Test Day 3 is live. The Men in Blue despite struggling in the first innings managed to score 376 runs with Ravichandran Ashwin scoring a century and Ravindra Jadeja playing a knock of 86 runs. In reply, the visitors were bowled out for just 149 runs. Rohit Sharma’s side had a mammoth lead of 227 runs. India decided to bat again. 

The side yet again lost the top order early with 67/3 on the board from their Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant stitched a partnership of 167 runs. Pant has been in sensational touch since his return to cricket. He was promoted to No.5 ahead of KL Rahul. He proved every worth of his promotion. Scoring a quick 39 runs in the first innings.

The wicket-keeper batter came to bat in the second innings in a similar position when the team was struggling. Pant played some quick shots at the end of Day 2. Since the start of Day 3, he played cautiously and played the shots wherever required. This was his first test series since his accident back in December. The Southpaw after 639 days returned to the longest format of the game and scored a century. 

Rishabh Pant is still India’s Wildcard

This was Pant’s 6th Test hundred. He has now equalled former captain MS Dhoni for the most tons by an Indian wicketkeeper in Test cricket. Risbah Pant scored a hundred in Dhoni’s second home at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. It will be a very special moment for the 26-year-old wicket-keeper who has followed the former India captain since his playing days. 

The left-handed batter was back in the pavilion scoring 109 runs. After his return, Shubman Gill who was also batting in the 90s scored his 6th hundred and India has now taken the lead of 508 runs. Along with Gill who’s batting at 113 and KL Rahul on 22 runs. India will try to bat till Tea session and post a huge total against the Bangla Tigers.
