The IPL governing body has suspended Delhi Capitals’ captain, Rishabh Pant, for one match due to a slow overrate violation.
As a result of this suspension, Pant will miss the upcoming match against RCB. The board has taken this action against him due to Delhi’s slow over rate during their match against Rajasthan. Pant has been fined Rs 30 lakh for this offence, marking the third time he has faced consequences for a slow overrate.
Previously, Pant was fined for the same offence during matches against Chennai on March 31st and Kolkata on April 3rd. Despite previous penalties, he repeated the offence during the match against Rajasthan on May 7th, leading to the BCCI taking strict action against him.
Delhi Capitals had lodged an appeal challenging the match officials’ decision under Article VIII of the IPL Code of Conduct. However, the appeal was reviewed by the BCCI and subsequently dismissed. The match referee’s decision is considered final and binding, confirming the rejection of Delhi’s appeal.
