Record-breaking Brilliance at 46th YMCA State-level Athletic Meet

Mumbai Delight as Gagan Amin and Krrish Singh Set the Tracks Ablaze

In a dazzling display of athleticism, Gagan Amin and Krrish Singh etched their names in the record books at the 46th YMCA State-level Athletic Meet 2023. The Mumbai University Pavilion tracks at Marine Lines witnessed spectacular performances, as the duo not only secured gold but also set new meet records in their respective events on a glorious Sunday morning.

Gagan Amin, representing Pro Athletes Academy, dominated the men’s 800 meters with a remarkable time of 1:56.63 seconds. This achievement shattered the previous record set by Satheesh Narayan in 2016 (1:57.30 seconds). Siddhesh Thorat of JSD Sports Foundation clinched the silver, surpassing the meet record with a timing of 1:57.01 seconds, while Nivas Mote from N.M. Sa Club secured the bronze with a time of 1:57.37 seconds.

In the boys’ under-18 category, emerging talent Krrish Singh, a product of Fit Hour Sports Club, left spectators in awe with his lightning-fast performance in the 400 meters. Clocking an impressive 49.39 seconds, Krrish obliterated Aditya Kochale’s 2018 record of 52.20 seconds. Gleen Nazareth (Abhyudaya SA) secured the silver in 49.48 seconds, improving upon the previous record, while Ali Shaikh (TMCAPY) claimed the bronze with a time of 51.09 seconds.

The excitement continued in the boys’ under-16 300 meters, where Thanish Gaddam (Pro Athletes Academy) stole the show with a gold-winning time of 36.95 seconds. Girik Bangera (TMCAPY) grabbed the silver in 37.34 seconds, while Rudra Kini (Athletics Group, Palghar) secured the bronze with a time of 37.57 seconds.

The Mumbai sporting community basked in the glory of these outstanding performances, setting the stage for an exhilarating athletic season ahead. The 46th YMCA State-level Athletic Meet will undoubtedly be remembered as a showcase of record-breaking brilliance and emerging talent.
