Real Madrid’s UCL Magic Prevails Against Bayern Munich

Real Madrid scripted yet another historic comeback as they grabbed a 2-1 win against Bayern Munich in the second leg of the UCL Semi-Final. Coming into the tie, both teams had two goals apiece and needed to find the back of the net to progress into the Final. Bayern netted the first goal, courtesy of a brilliant strike from Alphonso Davies. However, the Los Blancos overturned the 1-0 deficit through substitute Joselu, who scored two goals to send the team into the Final.

Bayern Munich created brilliant chances during the game, but the brilliance of Lunin denied them. Manuel Neuer who has won the competition twice previously was having another impressive outing as he made some impossible saves to keep the Bavarians in the tie. However, his only mistake of the game proved to be too costly for Bayern as he spilled a shot from Vinicius Jr. right in front of the goal, which gave Joselu the chance to put the ball in the back of the net.

The Los Blancos’ second goal was initially cancelled out by the on-field referee. But after a few minutes of looking into it, VAR overturned the decision and gave that as a goal to Real Madrid, who now had a 4-3 lead in the Semi-Final. Carlo Ancelotti’s men held the lead for the remaining few minutes and celebrated another trip to the UCL Final with their fans at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid set to face Borussia Dortmund in the Final at Wembley

Real Madrid’s win against Bayern Munich has helped them set up a Final against Borussia Dortmund in the UCL Final at Wembley. Both these teams have met each other in the knockout phase of the competition before, but it is going to be the first time that these sides faceoff in the Final. While Real are chasing their fifteenth title, Borussia Dortmund will be looking to win the trophy for the second time in their history.

Although Real Madrid have won more games in this fixture, Dortmund handed them the most disappointing loss in the 2013 UCL Semi-Finals. The Los Blancos had a stacked team and were destined to win the competition. However, the German side rained on their parade and grabbed a 4-3 win on aggregate to advance into the Final. Real’s then-coach Jose Mourinho has since stated that the loss in the Semis was one of the most heartbreaking defeats in his glorious career.

The Final will be played on June 1 at the iconic Wembley Stadium. Borussia Dortmund will be hoping to keep their past demons aside from the loss in 2013 and put on a great performance this time around. Meanwhile, Real Madrid has had a near-perfect run in the UCL and they will be hoping to end it with their 15th title.
