Pune’s veteran Raj Singh enhanced India’s reputation by bagging medals at the Pan American Masters Games in Cleveland, USA. It is special that Raj Singh won a total of four medals including a gold medal in this competition. The Pan American Masters Games is a prestigious international competition, with over 70 countries participating in more than 35 sports.
Around 20 thousand athletes gathered to compete in this year’s Games with six representatives from India. In Badminton, players aged 35 to 75 showed their skills by competing in various age groups. Raj Singh, a seasoned badminton player, has proved that one can achieve supreme success in the sport at any age. Age is not a barrier to that.
At the age of 60, he has demonstrated this maximum. He is originally from Pune. Has been active on the badminton court for the last 48 years. The veteran shuttler known for his unparalleled skill and determination. Throughout his career, he has consistently earned the Indian badminton community numerous accolades and proud moments.
Raj Singh justifies age as just a number
Competing in multiple sports at the Pan American Masters, he showcased his extraordinary talent. In this tournament, he along with Alka Batra won the gold medal in 60-plus mixed doubles. In the 55-plus doubles, he won the silver medal along with Santokh Singh. Raj Singh won the bronze medal in the 60-plus men’s singles. He won bronze with Andrew Crockett in the 60-plus men’s doubles.
Also in the track and field category in the 100m category, the shuttler won a bronze medal and performed brilliantly for his age. Raj said, “On the strength of my success at the Pan American Masters Games, I will continue the same journey of my sport. I will participate in the 2025 World Cup Masters Games in Taiwan. I believe this upcoming event will be another exciting chapter in Raj’s illustrious career as I prepare to represent India on the global stage once again.”
