Despite the Indian team’s success in reaching the final of the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli‘s lacklustre form has been a major talking point. Head coach Rahul Dravid, however, is confident that Kohli’s best performance in the tournament is yet to come.
Virat Kohli has struggled to meet expectations in the T20 World Cup, failing to perform significantly in each match. Many anticipated a strong showing from Kohli in the semi-final against England, given his history of impactful innings against them. However, Kohli was dismissed for just 9 runs in that game. Addressing this, head coach Rahul Dravid stated, “We have full faith in Virat Kohli. When you play aggressive cricket, sometimes your plans don’t come to fruition. In my view, even in this match, Virat played a superb shot for six to keep the momentum. Unfortunately, the ball seamed a bit too much and he got out. I appreciate Virat’s intent and approach. His willingness to take risks is a positive sign for the team.”
Dravid believes that Kohli’s best performance in the tournament is still to come. “Virat has saved his best for the biggest match, the final,” Dravid said. “I think he is on the verge of a significant innings. I love his attitude; he is fully committed on the field.”
