Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT Usha has called a special general meeting on October 25. In the wake of the controversy over the appointment of the chief executive officer. The meeting will discuss the appointment of Chief Executive Officer Raghuram Iyer. Along with the complaint of corruption charges against Treasurer Sahdev Yadav. And the disqualification of several council members for the post.
IOA president Usha and several members of the council are at loggerheads over these issues. In particular, members of the executive council are opposing the appointment of a CEO. The CEO’s high salary and his suitability for the position are being criticized. Former star athlete PT Usha, in an e-mail sent to the authorities. She said that all these issues are extraordinary and urgent and need to make effective decisions in such a situation.

She said “I am calling a special general meeting at IOA Bhavan on October 25 at 11 am. Those unable to attend the SGM in person can join via Webex. Its link will be available on the IOA website. This meeting has been called after Usha once again tussled with the executive council on September 26. Most of the members of the executive council had opposed Iyer’s appointment as CEO.”
The appointment of the CEO is yet to be approved by the Executive Council. Usha warned that the CEO is important for the smooth functioning of the union. The delay and refusal of some members of the Executive Council to accept this appointment is affecting our affairs and internationally. Usha said that this is likely to create a major hurdle in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s concept of hosting the 2036 Olympics in India.
