The Indian Super League (ISL) 2024/25 is full of turnarounds. The teams that looked good on paper have failed to perform so far after the end of Matchday 3. Among them, one team is Mumbai City FC (MCFC). The City Football Group-owned club is struggling to get back to their best of form. They have not won a single match this season under Petr Kratky.
During the summer transfer window, they let go of their three best players from the ISL Cup-winning squad last season. Rahul Bheke, Alberto Noguera and Jorge Pereyra Diaz. All three have travelled to Bengaluru FC. However, with the new responsibility given to Lallianzuala Chhangte, he failed to deliver his best after wearing the captain’s armband. So far the side has lost one and drawn the other two games in the season.
Kratky joined in the middle of last season after Des Buckingham was transferred to EFL Championship club Oxford United. The former did well joining the side took the team to the final and won the trophy. He lost the ISL Shield to Mohun Bagan Super Giants. The Czech professional has not found his best of tactics so far this season. Despite having some of the best footballers the team has struggled to score goals and secure the advantage.
Mumbai City FC fans are losing faith in Petr Kratky
Is Petr Kratky’s Coaching Philosophy Outdated for Modern Football? Petr Kratky’s attacking tactics are backlashing for Mumbai this season. There has been no transition from midfield to attack and the wingers have also failed to create any pressure on the opponent’s defenders. Despite taking the early lead against Jamshedpur they failed to win the match. The precision deliveries and goal-scoring has been off this season.
They are currently 11th in the league table with two points. The Islanders will look to change things around from Matchday 4 and secure their first win of the season. They next will face FC Goa away from home. In their last meeting back in December which was Kratky’s debut game as a manager, it was a stalemate with a 0-0 draw against the Gaurs.
