The Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad, Telangana, went into pure pandemonium last night as the final whistle was blown during the Telugu Titans vs Puneri Paltan game. Pawan Sehrawat, as he often is was the main man on the night. But it wasn’t any regular win for the Titans. They had just defeated the reigning Pro Kabaddi League Champions, the Puneri Paltan. A team that was deemed as the best Kabaddi team to have ever been assembled last season. And by doing so, Pawan Sehrawat and co. exposed the chinks in the armour of the supposedly unbeatable Puneri Paltan.
A Matter Of 1 Point ft. Vijay Malik & Pawan Sehrawat
Puneri Paltan scored a mountain load of points in the starting few minutes and almost always managed to keep that lead throughout the game. But last night it was Pawan Sehrawat who did the opening favours. In just his first 5 raids, the Indian Captain already had 6 points to his name while Puneri Paltan was struggling on 1. Just when you thought the first all-out would be inflicted, The Puneri Paltan came and actually inflicted the first all-out of the game on the Telugu Titans! In the end, the match finished with a scoreline of 34-33 in favour of the Telugu Titans with Vijay Malik coming in clutch along with Pawan Sehrawat for the South Indian side.
Pawan Sehrawat The High-Flyer Back To His Best!
The Pawan Sehrawat we all saw last night was the Pawan Sehrawat of the old. Since PKL 5, the Telugu Titans had never won 4 matches in a row. A record that they changed last night, all thanks to their Skipper and his right-hand man. Pawan Sehrawat raced to his Super 10 in the first half itself ravaging the Pune defence so much that by the end of the match, two of Pune’s supreme had to be subbed off due to their sub-par performances. Gaurav Khatri and Sanket Sawant in many ways were the poorest on the mat. Pawan Sehrawat took advantage of this and attacked primarily on Puneri Paltan’s left side of the defence. Not allowing both Gaurav Khatri and Sanket Sawant to take part in tackles. Thrice did Gaurav Khatri try to tackle Pawan Sehrawat, but the High-Flyer managed to get the better of his man all 3 times. Vijay Malik ended the night with 13 raid points while Pawan Sehrawat ended the night with 12.
The only way to beat this Puneri Paltan team is to fight fire with fire. Put your best foot forward in the raiding department. And that’s exactly what the Telugu Titans did successfully thanks to the High-Flyer and Vijay Malik. They now sit 4th on the points table just behind the Puneri Paltan, U Mumba and the Haryana Steelers.
