Pauras Kargutkar of Khalsa College won the Inter College Singles Carrom Tournament organized by Shree Narayana Guru College of Commerce-Chembur and Ideal Sports Academy.
In the final, Pauras Kargutkar saw off the challenge of Samruddhi Ghadigaonkar of Model College-Dombivli and clinched the title. Sri Narayana Guru College Committee President MI Damodaran and General Secretary OK Prasad, Vice Principal Jayashree Venkatachalam concluded the prize distribution ceremony. On this occasion Sports Director Poonam Mujawar, Reshma Khudabaksh, Prof. Naheed Sheikh, sports teachers Avinash Mahadik and Promise Saitwadekar, carrom guide Sachin Shinde and other dignitaries were present.
Samriddhi Ghadigaonkar made a strong start in the Final by taking the first board 5-0 in the first set of the deciding round. But after that, Pauras Kargutkar won the next set 8-5 by playing carefully and accurately taking every board. In the second set, Pauras took the lead from the start as he continued to hold the queen and won the final with a 15-2 victory.
Samruddhi Ghadigaonkar’s claim to the title after defeating emerging carrom players of national fame, Ankit Mohite and Nilansh Chiplunkar, ended in failure. In the semi-final match, Pauras Kargutkar defeated Ruchi of Poddar College and Samriddhi Ghadigaonkar defeated Nilansh Chiplunkar of Hinduja College to reach the final.
Leeladhar Chavan, winner of the Shiv Chhatrapati Award and organizer informed that the inter-college carrom competition will be organized by IDEAL on 29th June to encourage the college carrom players of various districts.
