Paris Olympics: Indian archers disappoint; Other sports have a decent start

Indian archers’ performance in the Paris Olympics turned out to be disappointing. Archers Ankita Bhakta, Bhajan Kaur, and veteran Deepika Kumari’s performance turned out to be very disappointing. The Indian women’s team lost 0-6 to the Netherlands in the quarter-finals. The Netherlands won the match in straight sets 52-51, 54-49, 53-48. For the first time since the London Olympics 2012, all six athletes have been included in the Indian team.

India entered the quarterfinals directly in both the men’s and women’s team events. However, the women’s team lost their hopes of a medal. They made his Olympic debut in archery in 1988. But, to date, Indian archers have not been able to progress beyond the quarter-finals. The nation was expecting medals from the archery section after their good start. However, the women have failed. The Men’s team will be competing on Monday against Turkiye in the quarter-finals.

India has a mixed start to the Olympics

On the other hand, India’s HS Prannoy won the first game 21-18 in the badminton tournament. Prannoy won the game in 23 minutes to take the lead. Fabian Roth put up a bitter resistance. However, Prannoy continued to dominate the match and did not allow Fabian to get back into the match. Prannoy got off to a great start by winning the second game easily 21-12. Prannoy ended the match in 45 minutes.

Manika Batra made a brilliant start by winning her first match in the table tennis tournament. Manika Batra defeated Britain’s Anna Hersey 4-1. With this win, Manika has qualified for the second round. Manika won the match 11-8, 12-10, 1109, 9-11, 11-5. Now Manika Batra will face Prithika Pavde of Indian origin from France. But it has been a disappointing start for tennis player Sumit Nagal to lose in the tennis tournament. K Corentin Moutet of France beat Sumit 6-2, 6-2 in straight sets. Sumit’s challenge ended with this defeat.

The only medal for the nation that has come so far is bronze. It has been won by Manu Bhaker in the 10m Air Pistol Women Single’s category. However, there are other sports too that the nation is expecting a medal in the upcoming days.
