India has won three medals so far in the Paris Olympics 2024. The nation has won all three bronze medals in the shooting category. On Thursday they earned their third bronze with Swapnil Kusale winning in the Men’s 50m Rifle Three Positions. Amidst all the wins there were disappointment for the nation. The Hockey team lost to Belgium 2-1. Then in the badminton women’s singles, it was a huge shocker.
PV Sindhu has been eliminated from the multinational event. She lost in two straight sets 21-19, 21-14 against her opponent He Bingjiao. The first set was a close one until the scoreline read 19-19 following which Bing Jiao went on to clinch the set 21-19. Her opponent outclassed Sindhu in the second and final set of the match. This is the first time that the two-time Olympic medalist is going out in the RO16 game.
Sindhu’s exit from the Paris Olympics 2024 came as a surprise to Indian fans. The Indian shuttler lost to a World No.9. The nation was expecting a medal from the 29-year-old shuttler. Now that the hopes of the medal have gone, it will be a difficult task for the nation to win more medals than the Tokyo Olympics. They were hoping to double the medals tally.
PV Sindhu was all lost in pressure
Was Sindhu overconfident or did she put much pressure on herself? Sindhu was defensive from the start of the game and she admitted that it was what that her down in the pre-quarterfinal. She has no regrets about her preparations for the Games, as she did everything she could to be in the best shape. It has been a tough time for her against the Chinese shuttler.
Despite taking all the training and starting the campaign with a flyer. It might have been the knockout pressure that has let her down. Sindhu was forced to scurry on both sides of the court. However, when the Sindhu attacked, the Chinese defended admirably. It is up the Lakshya Sen who is just one win away from being a medal contender for the nation.
