Paris Olympics 2024: Medal winners are given an iron piece of ‘Eiffel Tower’

Paris Olympics 2024 is already underway. There has been a unique gift for the athletes who are winning the medals. They are awarded with an iron piece of ‘The Eiffel Tower.’ India’s Manu Bhakar will be carrying the iron object from the Eiffel Tower as she won the bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event. It is because every medal of the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics has an iron piece of ‘Eiffel Tower’ attached to it.

This is a great initiative taken by the company that runs the Eiffel Tower. To give a new identity to this historic building. The Company wanted every athlete who won a medal to take with them a piece of French culture and history. Each medal will not only be a symbol of the Olympic Games but also a historical monument. The organizers of the Paris Olympics designed the Olympic and Paralympic medals in collaboration with a world-renowned jewelry company called Chomet.

An amazing initiative from ‘the Eiffel Tower’ Company

The iron of the Eiffel Tower is placed in the center of the medal and is given a hexagonal shape. This hexagon is colored dark gray. The English words ‘Paris 2024’ are printed on the place where the iron of the Eiffel Tower is installed. The six corners of the hexagon are studded with golden-colored gems, adding to the beauty of the medal.

The iconic Tower was built between 1887 and 1889 in Paris, the capital of France. Over the last century, the Eiffel Tower has undergone periodic renovations to maintain its prestige. Some iron was removed from the Eiffel Tower to preserve its beauty. This is the very reason a piece of iron from the Eiffel Tower is being awarded to the world’s best athletes as a symbol of Paris and French heritage.
