India missed out on their third medal in the Paris Olympics 2024. Shooter Arjun Babuta missed out on a medal on the third day of the Paris Olympics. After a good start in the 10m air rifle final, he dropped out of the medal race due to a poor shot.
Arjun Babuta finished seventh with 630.1 points to secure a place in the finals on Sunday. In Monday’s final, Arjun finished third after 18 shots but dropped to fourth after 20 shots and missed out on a medal. Arjun got off to a good start with first shots of 10.7.
He maintained his top 3 position with shots of 10.7, 10.2, 10.5, 10.4, 10.6. Arjun, who scored 52.4 points from the first 5 shots, shot 10.7, 10.5, 10.4, 10.6, and 10.4 in the next 5 shots and finished third with a total of 105.0 points.
Arjun Babuta fails despite the good start
After the first 10 shots, one in eight shooters drop out after every two shots. Arjun shot 10.6 and 10.8 in the eliminator. With this, he reached the second position. Arjun scored 9.9 and 10.6 after the first elimination. He remained in second place.
After the second elimination, Arjun finished second with 10.2 and 10.7 points. After the third elimination, he aimed for 10.5 and 10.1. But slipped to fourth place. Then shots of 10.5 and 9.5 raised his hopes. However, he dropped out of the medal race.
However, the nation has already got two medals in the shooting category with Manu Bhaker winning bronze in the Women’s Single 10m Air Pistol Category. Then the mixed doubles team of Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh also won bronze in the 10m Air Pistol.
