Novak Djokovic Wins Laureus World Sportsman of the Year Award

Tennis maestro Novak Djokovic has once again etched his name in history, securing the prestigious Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award for an unprecedented fifth time.

Djokovic, a titan in the tennis world, previously claimed this esteemed accolade in 2012, 2015, 2016, and 2019, adding another illustrious chapter to his remarkable career.

The grand ceremony, held in Madrid, saw Spanish football sensation Aitana Bonamati, a standout performer from Spain’s victorious World Cup squad, receiving the Best Sportswoman award. Additionally, Spain’s FIFA World Cup-winning team was honoured as the Laureus Team of the Year.

In recognition of their outstanding contributions, England’s football prodigy Jude Bellingham was bestowed with the Laureus Breakthrough of the Year award for his stellar performance at Real Madrid. Meanwhile, celebrated gymnast Simone Biles received acclaim for her inspiring comeback to the sport last year.

The ceremony was graced by legendary figures from the world of sports, with 7-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady presenting Djokovic with the Player of the Year award, while the incomparable sprinter Usain Bolt bestowed Bonamati with the Sportsman of the Year award. Carlos Alcaraz, the recipient of last year’s Breakthrough of the Year Award, had the honour of presenting Bellingham with the Laureus Award in that category.
